Snow Wisp - New Winter Creature

Updated: Apr 9, 2020

SNOW WISP ELEMENTAL ORIGINS AND HOME

Borne from cast-off magic on the elemental plane these creatures can be found swirling around the skies in the snowstorms that sweep over the mountains and down into the plains in winter.

Silent and invisible they are an unseen danger that individually pose only a passing problem but in larger numbers can prove a surprising challenge.

Locals living in the colder regions of the elemental plane, and those regions prone to snow wisp activity learn to bank up their fires or run for the safety of the indoors when they stumble into a group of snow wisps.

ON THE MATERIAL PLANE

Drifting as they do through the snowstorms on the elemental plane a few of these creatures have fallen through portals and other passageways to the material plane. They can be found in the higher hills and colder regions of the plane where they have established small colonies.

Luckily their intolerance of heat restricts their geographical spread and it is only in the cold high places of the world that they pose a significant threat.

That said when an exceptionally heavy winter sweeps over the plains the snow wisps are sure to follow plaguing the plain dwellers.

DM NOTES

These were designed to do two things – first, enhance an adventures winter theme and secondly create a small surprise for the players. They aren’t likely to ever kill a character but if they were to attack whilst the party were navigating a mountain pass or whilst crossing over an icy bridge in the middle of a snowstorm their blinding attacks might cause some problems!
