Hey all,
I have some exciting news for you all but especially so for all Final Quest fans. When I designed the game, I had the idea in the back of my head that the rules would work for general fantasy roleplaying.
With that in mind, a little project has been bubbling away in the background and I can share the results below - which is the first of a series of side quests for Final Quest.
To make this work, there are amended rules. As the side quests are still designed for solo play, they run on a series of triggers. Typically, entering a location means you roll for an encounter, and possibly roll for treasure.
As I would like to think that you would expect from The Grinning Frog, both encounter rolls and treasure rolls results can be both good or bad! That way, things stay as random as possible for your character - and for you!
I'm not looking to create the next big RPG with this content but rather provide you with a session worth of gaming using a rules set that is simple and fast to play.
Also, this is completely free. Feel free to take it and adapt it, use it, share it with your gaming friends etc.
I know that some of our regular supporters play Final Quest with a group. These side quests would work well for that. And if you don't have the Final Quest rules (you can pick them up here in print, or here in PDF) you can always use the scenarios for a quick Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder session. All you will really need to do is prep stats for the creatures.
You can see the format below:

And you can download the Final Quest Side Quest 01 below:
Edit. 26 May - above file updated to include loud rule amendments and stats for animated armour.
If the format looks strange, it is because we have designed these to be printed as gatefold leaflets. The story outline and the tables will fold forward over the map to form a cover (the intro on the left), with the new rules on the back. The first batch have been ordered from the printers and we are eagerly awaiting their arrival in the office. When they come in, I will share some pictures.
In the meantime, the above file should print out quite nicely, or simply use it on a laptop or tablet.
I'd love to know what you think to the side quest once you have run it. We are planning a series and might further evolve the rules to support ongoing adventure/campaigns.
They are designed with a single character in mind, so if you are tackling them as a party then you will want to bump up the opponent numbers I would say.
Before I go, and thinking of games, if you haven't seen it then we have a neat little campaign running for a whole lot of neat little games...

Whilst the focus is Zilight: High Noon, there are a total of 13 games on offer! All the details can be found via the above link.
Enjoy the Final Quest content and see you again soon.
Until next time, keep gaming.
Stephen
All ready printed.
Couple of questions. Do we still use the Boon/Bane and loud rules? Also what are the states for the animated armour?
